Hi everyone

Is there anyone out there who is an English football fan? Yesterday I acquired a large boxful of old soccer books from a Brit who has decided he no longer has room to keep his collection. I can’t give you any titles just at the moment, they are in my garage waiting to be cleaned and priced with a whole lot of other new purchases but I remember seeing a number of Daily Express annuals along with biographies of quite a number of well-known identities. If you are interested, send me an email and I’ll let you know as soon as they come into the shop.

Another purchase I am processing at the moment is a great collection of history and some literature from a retired academic. They are mainly English and Scottish history with some European as well. Really good basic titles, things like G.R.Elton “England Under the Tudors”, John Prebble’s “Glencoe” and “The letters of Abelard and Heloise”. All are paperback, so none are very expensive and they should be out on the shelves within the next week.

Just out on the shelves are some superb art books. They are mainly coffee table size and in very good condition. There are two magnificent books on Picasso, one on Renoir, Seurat, Michelangelo and Toulouse-Lautrec. One is French Painting in The Hermitage: second half of the 19th to the early 20th century. Printed in Leningrad, it has a linen cover that is sunned but internally it is excellent with a tipped in colour illustration on the frontis. and a vast number of colour illustrations throughout.

From the same collection we have Africa: Tribal Art of Forest and Savanna by Arnold Bamert printed by Thames and Hudson in 1980. As you probably know, these publishers are known for the fantastic work they do, particularly with art books and this book is exceptionally fine.

Two shipments of American first editions and signed copies have already arrived from Otto in Florida making a number of people very happy. A third one is on its way now. Don’t forget to let us know if there is anything you would like him to find…

Enjoy your reading and I’ll let you know what’s been happening again next month.
